Ever wondered what the government does with our personal data that they compel us to hand over to them?
Think of all the information we provide when we fill in our tax return, electoral register, council tax form, census return, licence application, passport application, apply for a loan, get married (or divorced), tax your car, appear in court etc etc
I would like to think that my data was treated confidentially, stored securely and only used for the purpose it was gathered for.
Unfortunately that is not the case, it gets sold to whoever is willing to pay the price, to credit checking agencies, banks, direct marketing companies and people such as http://www.govtregistry.com/ and http://www.oscar-research.co.uk/
They have the cheek to tell us to beware of identity theives and keep our details secure............................
