I keep stumbling across an organisation called Common Purpose and quite frankly they worry me.
One of their stated aims is to produce the leaders of society:
The leaders of this civil society are likely to be leaders already within their own areas: companies, hospitals, communities. But they need to see themselves as leaders of society too - and use their talents accordingly.
Common Purpose is all about finding, encouraging and developing these leaders: wherever they are and whatever they are currently doing.
We aim to open people's eyes. Show them where the levers of power are and how they work. Give them the information they need or show them where to find it. Introduce them to their peers in other fields.
In a similar manner to Patrick Henry College in America, Common Purpose seem to be infiltrating all levels of government and state administration but in many more countries. They claim not have an underlying agenda, I have trouble believing that.
Common purpose have a very cosy relationship with Government,
The former Department for Education and Skills concluded a contract in September 2004 for £28,800 and April 2005 for £22,900 with Common Purpose to provide challenging and diverse learning experiences for future leaders.
In addition Common Purpose South Yorkshire currently has free use of a small accommodation unit in the Sheffield site of the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

Yet another step towards global government perhaps?
Where are we heading?
